This step by step guide will take you through the process of sending an SMS using your email programme.
Step 1: Open your email client (for example, Microsoft Outlook)
Step 2: Create a ‘New’ mail message
Step 3: Enter the cellphone number that you would like to send an SMS to in the “To” field in the format: cellphonenumber@2way.co.za. E.g. 27820010001@2way.co.za
Step 4: Enter the password in the ‘Subject’ field. This is the password that you setup when entering your email address under “Set-up Email to SMS sending” in the Advanced Features section of your account
Step 5: Type the SMS message in the body of the email. Remember, an SMS can only be 160 characters. Any characters over 160 will not be sent using the Email to SMS service.
Step 6: Click ‘Send’.
Note: When sending an SMS via email be sure to enter the cellphone number and the ‘@2way.co.za’. If you do not insert the ‘@2way.co.za’, you will receive an error message and your SMS will not be sent.

Step 3: To send a message to a group of contacts enter the cellphone numbers that you would like to send the SMS to in the “To” field in the format: cellphonenumber@2way.co.za. E.g. 27820010001@2way.co.za, or select a predefined group/distribution list that you have created in your email address book. You will need to ensure that the contacts cellphone numbers in your email address book are all saved in the correct format: i.e. cellphonenumber@2way.co.za.

Step 1: Open your email and click the reply button.
Step 2: Change the subject to your Email to SMS password (This is the password that you setup when entering your email address under “Set-up Email to SMS sending” in the Advanced Features of your account
Step 3: Delete the message body text and type the reply SMS that you would like to send to your contact. Ensure that the body of the message is not longer than 160 characters. Anything over 160 characters will be deleted.
Step 4: Press the send button to send your SMS message to the recipient.
